Land Activities In Alicante

One would not normally associate ice skating with a sunny coastal city such as Alicante, but during the Christmas season the area around the town hall and Plaza del Ayuntamiento turn into a mini Spanish winter wonderland. A lovely ice rink is set up in the plaza with colourful lighting, pretty nativity scenes, Christmas market, music and fun stuff for the young ones. Children can also meet Santa at his grotto in Ereta Park and there is a fun Toboggan Run that sets up in the Plaza de la Montaneta. A great way to get to know the city, and taste a variety of traditional Spanish dishes is to take a tapas tour where your guide will give you loads of information about Alicante during the tour, as well as explain the variety of tapas and drinks you try in the tapas bars you visit.

For those that enjoy a bit of an adrenaline rush there is go-karting with carts for all ages and paintball that offers a variety of battle scenarios and is a favourite activity with groups on a stag or hen do. If you don't fancy the pain and bruises, laser combat is just as exciting, and for an enjoyable day in the great outdoors, a variety of horse riding treks are available in Alicante. Fantastic family fun can be had at Ozone Bowling that also offers arcade games, pool tables, darts, ping pong, air hockey and a cafe bar for snacks and refreshments. Visitors with a good level of fitness and head for heights should definitely try the thrilling sport of ‘via ferrata‘ which is a combination of hiking, rock scrambling, rock climbing and abseiling.

Water Activities In Alicante

One of the most popular water activities that for many turns into a lifetime hobby or even a profession is scuba diving, and in the neighbouring town of Santa Pola visitors can try an introduction to scuba diving day or go on to do a number of PADI scuba diving courses that includes the most popular Open Water Diver all the way to Master Diver. With the rapid advance of technology, even children as young as 8 years can enjoy scuba diving using the unique ‘Bubblemaker' diving suit and there are even special courses designed for kids that teaches them the basics of scuba diving as well as information on marine flora & fauna.

Maybe not for everyone due to the high costs, a variety of RYA (Royal Yacht Association) sailing courses are available in Alicante's harbour area that include a choice of theory, practical, combined and specialist courses from Start Yachting to Coastal Skipper. Alternately, the same company offer yacht charter from one day to a full week, with or without a skipper. For a fun filled day in the water that all the family will enjoy, a Tabarca Island Snorkelling Safari is a must do activity. The crystal clear waters around the island have been declared a protected Marine Nature Reserve, and due to this the underwater flora & fauna is pristine and plentiful, making for some of the best snorkelling on the Costa Blanca.
