Nightclubs

When the sun sets over the Mediterranean and it's time to don the glad rags and kick up the heels, head for the Alicante nightclubs where you can dance the night away to the latest tunes from resident and guest DJ's. The variety of entertainment venues in Alicante offer something for everyone, from family friendly music and karaoke bars to large discotecas boasting the latest sound systems that will get your heart thumping and feet tapping. For visitors with kids, the British and Irish bars favoured by local expats offer a great night out with fun quizzes, bingo, competitions and popular games such as ‘count your cards right' and for a laid back afternoon scene with mellow tunes and chill out seating, the city's beach clubs are spot on.

Discoteca Wilson – With a central location on Carrer Pintor Aparicio 15, Discoteca Wilson is one of the longest running of all the Alicante nightclubs and has been entertaining the crowds since 1981. Depending on your age, it's great to look at the club's picture gallery where some of their earlier photos make you think, did I really dress like that! Aside from the modern updated decor, lighting and sound system, not much has changed at Discoteca Wilson where the locals and visitors in the know head to for a great night and top DJ's spinning the decks till dawn.

Stereo – One thing about Alicante nightclubs, whether it's due to more relaxed licencing laws or just the fact that the Spaniards know how to party, is the fact that many of them only open their doors really late, usually around 11pm. Stereo is one such nightclub that only opens after midnight and die hard party people go to enjoy a great mix of pop, indie and rock music, as well as live bands that keep the place rocking until as late, or early as 7.30am! They are located in the city centre on Carrer Pintor Velazquez 5 and open from Thursday to Saturday.

Discoteca Coco – Located on Av. de Denia, slightly outside the city centre and close to the popular Plaza Mar 2 Shopping Complex, Coco is not the largest nightclub but boasts a great sound system and lighting, and has a dedicated crowd of local party goers that come for the fantastic sounds of Latin America. Coco hold regular theme party nights, special events and promotions, and is the place to head for if you want to see real salsa, rumba and tango dancing where dancers often clear the dance floor with the crowds cheering them on. Opening hours are Thursday 7pm – 3am, Friday and Saturday 6pm – 7.30am and Sunday 6pm – 3am.

Isla Marina – Also slightly outside the city centre on Av. Villajoyosa, Isla Marina is a fantastic beach club that is a pleasure to visit both day and night. A great feature of the club is the open air Chill Out Zone, complete with wonderful couch seating overlooking the sea, outdoor dining area and even a swimming pool. This is where the city's high rollers come to sip champagne and cocktails or enjoy elegantly prepared tapas and main meals. For a more relaxed time go during weekdays, as on weekends the resident DJ kicks off the music from around 2pm and they are not shy with the volume! Opening hours are Tuesday – Thursday 12pm – 1am and Friday – Saturday 12pm – 3am.
